On Nov. 19th I enjoyed Mavis Staples 75th birthday concert at The Auditorium Theater. It was the first time I stepped out of my house for a show since my heart attack and my heart sung with joy for my amazing sweet special friend, Mavis Staples!!! With cane in hand to stabilize me and Beata Wajdeman, I enjoyed performances from SO many wonderful acts honoring her: Aaron Neville, Gregg Allman, Bonnie Raitt, Grace Potter, Arcade Fire, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Patty Griffin, Joan Osborne, Widespread Panic, Jeff Tweedy, Michael McDonald, Otis Clay, Glen Hansard, Ryan Bingham, Eric Church and Don Was with his amazing house band, to name a few. It was a true honor to celebrate Mavis Staples’ talent and love of music. I am truly blessed to have a 2nd chance and enjoy these wonderful moments!!!!! I’ll admit I’m a bit tired today, but inspired to heal faster!!!!!!
