On Sam Cooke. As time goes by and as I read more and more about the life and times of Sam Cooke, the more I understand what really happened to this wonderful man and extraordinary black artist. 1. He was black 2. He was famous 3. He was a great singer and composer 4. He was a good businessman. 5. He didnt have the traditional financial support for his music 6. The mob was after his money and his rights 7. He had a sweet but yet strong temper 8. He fought for his rights 9. He also fought for the civil rights of his race 10. Unlike others like Muhammad Ali, he had no godfathers to protect him 11. He liked women a lot, so he probably made a lot of enemies. 12. He was a married man. 13. He surely had family problems because of the above. 14. He had a huge life insurance and his wife was perhaps sole beneficiary 15. His little son drowned in his home pool and he felt guilty. 16.He was betrayed by his best friends 17. Shortly after his death, maybe just months, his wife married 21 year old singer Bobby Womack, one of his closest friends. 18. According to Etta James, his body was badly beaten despise the fact he was shot to death TWICE. They wanted him dead. 19. Police, investigators and jurors did not perform their job. His case was tampered, obstructed and suddenly closed. 20. Up to 2009 all his rights had been owned by people under suspicion. These are some of the facts I have been able to gather. Would you please draw your own conclusion? In my humble opinion, this is a real case of set-up and cover-up with mob hit as Elvis said, for financial reasons and other motives I would rather not comment here. Had I had the powers, I would have ordered the reopening of the case so that justice be done. W.W.
