On Saturday 6th September a group of young people who have autism - TopicsExpress

On Saturday 6th September a group of young people who have autism and their friends are taking part in a sponsored swim/splash at Hydro barn. The young people are raising money for Buddy’s for Children with Autism, to provide a service dog for a child with autism. A service dog is trained to meet the needs of both a young person experiencing autism, and their parents, for a degree of predictability in social settings helping to bring independence for the whole family. Highly skilled Autism Service Dogs offer families 3 key advantages - safety, comfort and inclusion. Along with the provision of a fully trained dog, training and support are also provided to the parents and their child. The specially trained dog helps to increase confidence and social communication, in part due to the bond that is built between the young person and the dog over time. The total cost of the specialised training is in the region of £6,000. Many people who use the pool at Hydro @ the Barn have autism so it is a really special cause for us, therefore in addition to us giving the young people free use of the pool for their swim we would be unbelievably grateful if you were able to donate via the attached page. gofundme/bp4oo8
