On Saturday, August 17, Outpost management was so pleased to announce to staff a new overall wage increase structure (outpost.coop/about/pressroom/). Before doors opened, union employees learned of the new plan. Everyone was treated to cheers and happy tears. The wage increase has been in the planning stages for a while, amidst forward expansion planning for a second Market Cafe (now open at Rite-Hite YMCA complex in Brown Deer) and a fourth store location in Mequon scheduled to open Spring 2014. Outpost clerks have been represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union local #1473 since 1979.
