On Saturday Dec. 6, the Hamburg Central Schools Polar Plunge team of 21 participants took on Lake Erie and won!!! The team, made up of administrators, teachers, staff, parents and 1 student, raised over $3600, sending 7 athletes to the Special Olympics! The Change for Champions campaign was run through district buildings, asking students to donated their loose change to the Special Olympics. The Middle School asked students to donate to Toss 11 teachers and staff in the cold water. Through all the efforts in the buildings and online donations, the team won the Cool School Fundraising Award for being the TOP Fundraising School! Next year, the Polar Plunge hoodies will be sporting some purple because of this award. The team is looking forward to taking the plunge again in 2015!
