On Saturday, June 7, 2014, The National Vietnam War Museum will hold its 5th annual update of our replica Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall. Since its dedication in 2009, this half scale replica of the wall in Washington has been updated each year to keep pace with the changes to the original. To the best of our knowledge, the museums wall is currently the only one that can be updated. Honoring the four servicemen whose names were added to the wall in Washington, D.C. in 2013, we will be unveiling panels with the names of SPC Raymond Clark Thompson, USA; ABE3 Clark David Franklin, USN; and SGT Dennis R. Siverling and PFC Lester James Veasey, USMC. We will have guest speakers for all three services represented, as well as a bugler and honor guard from the Vietnam Veterans Association. The gates will open at 8:00 a.m., with the ceremony beginning at 10:00 a.m. Following the ceremony, the memorial, as well as all the gardens and the Visitor Center will remain open to the public. On display in the Visitor Center will be a new exhibit by Charles Thompson, about the incident at Kent State University that occurred on May 4, 1970. Also new this year is the second of our branch themed gardens. We have started work on the Navy garden, which has yet to be named. The final name will be released when the garden is formally dedicated later this year. The museum is located at 12685 Mineral Wells Highway, U.S. Highway 180, east of the city of Mineral Wells, Texas.
