On Saturday at St. Marks, weve got a special display called Brookline: Past, Present, & Future. A lot of you already know Brookline Connection, and Clints been gracious enough to coordinate a history exhibit that will show you the development of Brookline from a farming community to a fast-growing suburb in the era of the Liberty Tunnels. Well also have a setup for photograph and document scanning, so if you have anything you think people would be interested in checking, bring it by! Were also interested in hearing your Brookline story. Margaret Krauss is an oral historian with WhatWhatWhy Radio and will be recording stories about the people in the neighborhood, so please bring the elders of your family along and spend some time with Margaret. Well also have an interactive map exhibit where you can mark your favorite Brookline memories and see the path others have traced through the neighborhood. Were also very concerned with the present and future of the neighborhood, so we wanted to share some selected slides from the EvolveEA community visioning project that South Pittsburgh Development Corp. (SPDC) commissioned, which shows key data about the neighborhood, its strengths, and where to go from here. What are Brookliners passionate about? Whats our identity? How do we tell other people about that? And how do you get involved? As mentioned yesterday, well have representatives from some of the Brookline area community groups set up outside, like our host organization South Pittsburgh Development Corporation (SPDC) and one of our sponsors, the Brookline Chamber of Commerce. These organizations are a good way to get involved in the neighborhood, so talk to them after you get excited about Brooklines future and see what you can do to help!
