On Saturday at approximately 12:00 p.m., SCSO units were dispatched to a Sanford residence in reference to a missing 9 year-old boy with special needs who had wandered away from his residence. SCSO’s Alert helicopter and K-9 bloodhound, Amber, were immediately dispatched as well as additional search teams. The child had been missing for approximately one hour. Amber tracked 1.5 miles through the woods non-stop when she found the little boy walking in dense woods. He was reunited with his family shortly after he was brought out of the woods. Amber is SCSO’s newest bloodhound – you may remember her from our “Name our Puppy” Facebook campaign a couple years ago. She is two and a half years old and just recently completed her tracking training. We are very thankful for Amber’s keen tracking skills that helped her locate this little boy and reuniting him with this family. Way to go Amber!
