On Saturday night, I volunteered to do the night shift check in on - TopicsExpress

On Saturday night, I volunteered to do the night shift check in on our boarding dogs at work and let them out. Ralph (a Chihuahua) got spooked by a noise while we were outside on a potty break and slipped out of his harness. I followed him (running) for several miles (in the middle of the night) through the local neighborhoods and down Warwick Blvd. He was too fearful of people to approach anybody and I had to give up after over an hour. His family, our staff, some of our clients, and several of the neighboring business owners have been distributing flyers and canvassing the neighborhoods several times a day since Saturday. We have received several "Ralph sightings" but nobody has been able to get close enough to put their hands on him. Shortly after 8:00 tonight we got a call from somebody who was able to capture Ralph and he is now safely on his way back to his family. Words cannot express how excited I was to receive that call tonight. Kudos to the officers of the Newport News Animal Services who have cheerfully answered my calls to their personal cell phones to check in with them several times each day/night. Kudos to our wonderful clients who have picked up flyers from me and taken time out of their lives to lend a hand. Ralph was found very close to the James River Bridge, so if you know where our hospital is located, you understand what a looooooong journey our little 10lb. friend has traveled over the past 3 days. On behalf of the NNAH family, thank you to everyone who helped with this.
