On Scottish Independence: Scotland might be wrong to vote yes, - TopicsExpress

On Scottish Independence: Scotland might be wrong to vote yes, seeing as the reasons are primarily economic and they might end up worse off. However, the very referendum has brought to the fore something many of us had forgotten or chosen not to believe. Democracy is still very much alive. Whatever the outcome, its a victory for democracy in a system previously seen as failed, where were dangled a carrot or a parsnip and told like beggars to choose, while the ruling aristocracy gorge and scoff at the higher tables - this would be a clear message that the inequality and the discontent felt by the electorate can no longer be ignored by politicians, it tells the rule makers that we can vote decisively against them and that their illusion of power is, in fact fallible. It tells the disillusioned electorate that Yes, you still have a voice and yes, it can speak with resounding vengeance if the elite will close their ears, books and tables to fair and democratic bargaining Desperately, cross-parties in Whitehall are offering more and more on the bargaining table, offering what Scotland already deserved, but the sneaky shower of obese snakes down in London had so long denied. What does that say about what we already know of inequality and what we deserve? Heres the real cheek and slap in the face - they know too. How much are they holding back for austerity and the umbrella of recession that is actually there to go around? The indignation and cheek of it, knowing that exploitation, mismanagement and privatization of resources is being sanctioned, under the guise of elected democratic movements. The flailing and desperate pleadings and gilded offers show that there is a lot of the pie that we have not been told about, that the umbrella of recession is made of the fabric of the Emperors New Clothes, but were told to suck it up because were not out of deep water yet. We now see that there is a pack of aces up every sleeve. If Scotland and the UK will suffer for it, life will still go on, but with more difficulty, comes triumph over adversity and difference by uniting in the face of common threats, or coming together for common goals. We have seen how this survivalist characteristic of people and human beings is being exploited with the Islamophobia and fear of Eastern Europeans - perhaps the fallout of a democratic movement that will rock the system to its core is a price to pay to wake people up, to have them breath belief again. This hardy characteristic, channeled in the right way, plus the hardship of a humble life and the conviction to fight to what we want, not to be spoon fed in luxurious distraction, is essential for is to move forward as a civilisation, and not to regress, as we currently are, into a feudal Imperio-economic establishment where we accept the hierachy and tune in and zone out to X factor with a greasy chippy dinner in our laps... Luxury and distraction are just fetters, lined with fools gold to make us believe we are blessed and free. The bling we wear is a noose. We are not magpies, we are human beings and we fought our way to the top to get here. It is time we learned how to be warriors and fight again. The time for disillusionment is still very much here, but the system is not invincible. Whatever happens, make sure you use your voice and not only vote - petition, write to MPs, sign up to Change.org, Avaaz.org or other groups that believe in the power of collective conscientious speech. Shit can get done. Its up to us to change democracy away from this: https://facebook/video.php?v=630496507063975 Nicked from Matty C Pyrateé Roche
