On September 12, 2001 our family dog Sadie delivered 2 beautiful puppies. One of them looked just like a beagle and Gregory Lucas Hand immediately fell in love with her and claimed her as “his” dog. He loving named her Cera (pronounced Sarah) and instantly she became his and he became hers. Over the years she has been such a joy to all of us. Barking and greeting us when we arrived home each day saying "I have missed you and I love you but now hurry up and get my treats!" She also has always been fearless and a true defender of her boy. If you ever tried to spank him or rough house with Greg she would growl and jump to his defense. For almost 13 years they have been inseparable. Sadly about two weeks ago she started having seizures and our vet has determined that along with this major issue she also is struggling with congestive heart failure. He has provided meds to try and control her symptoms and keep her comfortable but it appears her journey here on earth is drawing to a close. Not sure if we have one day or one year left with her and we are not giving up hope. Instead we are taking every opportunity to love on her and tell her how much she has and does mean to all of us. As I look into her soft brown eyes I can see her spirit is growing tired but I also can see a love and trust which knows no boundaries. Her love and faithfulness has enriched our lives and we are so grateful for everyday we have had to spend to her.
