On September 15, 1988, Piedmont Airlines took delivery of N406US, the first 737-400 to be delivered by Boeing. Today, 406 took her final flight with a US Airways flight number. Her future is uncertain. I had the privilege of flying on the delivery flight in 1988 and today, thanks to many people going to bat for me, I had the privilege of flying on the ferry flight out to Tucson. It was an honor to be able to enjoy one last flight on 406. Ironically, it comes on August 5, which happens to be the anniversary of the Piedmont - US Airways merger. At this point, we have two 737 s left on property.
