On Sunday, Air Station Barbers Point crews saved 8 people from the Kaiwi Channel. The CG Air Auxiliary was on a training flight and was diverted to locate the 8 PIW in the channel. AuxAir 5 remained overhead while the MH-65C hoisted 4 children and flew to Sandys Beach where HFD and EMS were waiting. The Rescue Swimmer was left on scene with the other 4 survivors until the helicopter returned. The helicopter made three trips to safely recover all 8 PIW. New Story by Pamela Young - at KITV
