On Sunday evening, the President surprised a man from Kibera along Ngong Road, Nairobi when he became his customer. The man who has been doing the business of roasting maize for the last 20 years around Prestige Plaza, Ngong Road, was surprised to spot Uhuru driving his Land Rover with no body guards, no security unlike former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who used to pass there with all instruments of power including a police chase car. “Mzee nipe mahindi hapo,” Uhuru said in Swahili dialect. “Ya Ngapi customer,” the old man asked Uhuru ‘Leta tu I will pay you” but when the man came closer to the vehicle he realized it was our Commander In Chief, President Uhuru Kenyatta. “I almost fainted but I gained courage to give him his delicacy,” Samuel Odhiambo told journalists on Tuesday. “I thought I was dreaming but I realized it was real. He had no bodyguards on his, vehicle,” Odhiambo said. He said they chatted with the President for almost 10 minutes. “He asked me about security in the area and how much I make in a day. I told him a make Sh 300 in a good day.” “Before he left he gave me Sh 2,000 and swiftly drove towards Yaya Centre where he told me he has a business meeting,” the man said expressing his gratitude. “He is the coolest man I have ever met in my life,” Odhiambo concluded.
