On Sunday night I received an email from a 16 year old girl - TopicsExpress

On Sunday night I received an email from a 16 year old girl telling me she just finished reading my second book Living for Today that her therapist gave her to read since she wasnt talking in therapy and her therapist suspected something happened to her. She said, I dont think she actually expected me to read your book and to be honest I wasnt actually going to read it but I did and so glad that I did. I dont feel so alone after reading it and relate to so much of what you said and I have never told anyone what happened me. I am afraid this man is doing it to another little girl but Im scared and terrified to tell anyone but you were able to tell. What if no one believes me, he is a good guy everyone loves, and what if he tells everyone I am a liar? So I immediately responded back to this girl and told her to tell her therapist you read my book and are ready to tell her your own secrets you have kept of what you went through. I encouraged her that she will be believed and not to let the fear of him calling her a liar or people in denial keep her silent. I told her how many other girls she will save by speaking up and the voice she will reclaim. Well she took my words of advice and look what happened! AMEN! Thank God that therapist gave her my book and opened the door to make her realize she isnt alone and she cant stay silent and this man is now behind BARS! I told this teen tonight I went public because I wanted to reach girls like herself to break their silence. I always said if going public could bring one child to break their silence it is worth it. Whether they find their voice in the classroom through Erins Law or reading my books I will continue to put a bright light on this silent epidemic to give many more the ability to break their silence and end their nightmare. -Erin Merryn
