Every day, researchers are pushing the boundaries to save more lives from this silent, killer disease: According to the American Cancer Society, mortality rates for ovarian cancer have not improved markedly in 40 years since the War on Cancer was declared. Other cancers have shown a marked reduction in mortality due to the availability of early detection tests and improved treatments. Women diagnosed with ovarian cancer today still only have a 43% 5-year survival rate.
