On The Beach Toes digging into wet sand Standing in the shallows Feeling the oceans tug White froth on incoming waves Fresh seaweed scattered round Pushed in by the tide Shallow pools in nearby rocks Where starfish and sand dollars thrive A dark fog seen in the distance May later roll in For now its sunshine Warming up the salty air Childrens laughter fills the air As they bury each other in the sand Castles being made With small buckets and busy hands Smell of burgers, wafting round Cooked on an open grill Drift wood high on the beach Giving shelter to anxious birds Saltwater in hair, red sunburned skin All on the day Spent at the beach Was always fun Never wanting it to end Allen Redneck Lucas
