On The Road Of Likya -------------------------- Today we propose our first project of this term with a group of young people, named "Human Rights Defenders" Project Tag ------------------- Starting Point : The idea started with a chat with asylum seeker friend, Imad Bakir. When he talked about his dream of FLYing. After we learned about the risk of parachute we decide safer sports and art. Project Idea and Propose : Martı PG Legal Person : Çağlar Kadam (Martı Association Vice President) Contact Person: Seren Şimşir (Martı Association member) Thanks to Selçuk Ercan translating to English. Summary : The Project will take place in tent camps which will be set up in two different locations on historical Likya Road which runs between İstanbul and Antalya Fethiye, and lasts 6 nights long. This Project is a national youth initiative with themes of “education through sports and outdoor events” and “art and culture”. The Project will last for 90 days and be carried out with 16 young people with limited opportunities whose 8 of them are refugees from different countries and the other 8 are local young. The Project aims to cause betterment in difficult lives of the young’. To support finding possible solutions to young’ psychological problems, and to strengthen their social harmony with local young are the special aims of the Project. With the different field activities such as “Trekking/swimming”, “İstanbul Through My Frame”, “Taking Photos in Likya Road” and educational activities like “Photography Workshop”, “Camping and Trekking Workshop”, the Project targets to support finding solutions to young’ psychological problems via providing betterment through sport and art. The project aims to increase the refugee young’ social harmony with local young through increasing awareness about refugee issue in local spectrum with the help of “Refugees Talking” sessions, “Human Rights Workshop” in which they will act as ‘the other’ by using creative drama techniques, “Debate Matches” with the themes of “Political Criteria” and “Rights of the Refugees” in which they will protect the rights of the other by pretending to be the other, “exhibition” in which the photographs taken by the young will be presented with photographs taken for another project named as “Evin Yoksa Sesin Yok” (No Home No Voice) with the “Lives of the Refugees”. “Trekking/Swimming”, Around Camp Fire: “Conversation, Show your Talent, Present your Country”, “Debate Workshop”, “Debate Matches”, “Political Criteria” and “Refugees Talking” sessions, “Human Rights Workshop”, “Photography Workshop”, “Camping and Trekking Workshop”, “İstanbul through My Frame”, “Taking Photos in Likya Road”. The activities mentioned above are designed to create an environment for young to come together and get to know each other, therefore strengthening their social harmony. Learning through sport and art, research, making empathy in the discussions that are made, meeting new cultures, making analysis are chosen to be the methods for learning.
