This episode, Grandma Comes Home was the sixth season finale because Ellen Corby, who played the role of “Grandma Walton” returned after suffering a stroke in 1977; and this was the last episode in which Will Geer, who played the role of Grandpa Walton, appeared because he died on April 22, 1978, of respiratory failure at the age of 76.
