March 29-31, 1972 The Black Panther Party Black Community Survival Conference Oakland, California For three days in March 1972, the Black Panthers held a conference in Oakland and Berkeley offering free groceries, sickle cell anemia testing and voter registration. 1,500 bags of groceries were distributed to African-American and needy persons.
