On Thursday, December 11th, the LS Police Officers Association conducted our annual Shop with a Cop event. The day starts when the officers pick up each child from their school in a police car and head over to Wal-Mart for some shopping. Each child is given a gift card to buy gifts for all of the special people on their list. Once the shopping is done, the officers bring the kids to the PD where an army of volunteers is waiting to help them wrap the gifts. Once the wrapping is done the kids sit down to a nice dinner with the officers while Santa Claus chats with each child. The night ends when the officers take the children home and the gifts are placed under the tree at each childs home. The event is made possible each year by the generous donations of our many sponsors, including Wal-Mart and Chick-Fil-A. This year we were able to work with 16 kids! The officers all donate their time for the event and every year it is hard to determine who is more touched by the event, the children or the officers! Happy Holidays!
