On Thursday, July 24, 2014, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals determined that U.S. Courts lack jurisdiction over claims of persons in Columbia asserting Chiquita Brands Intl, Inc., and Chiquita Fresh North LLC engaged in concert with paramilitary forces in acts that plaintiffs alleged to constitute torture resulting in personal injury and death. The Court held that Alien Tort Statute, 28 U.S.C. § 1350 (“ATS”), and the Torture Victims Protection Act, 28 U.S.C. § 1350 (“TVPA”) is applicable only to natural persons. See Mohamad v.
