On Thursday, May 8, at 7:30 a.m., Mayor Ronnie Marks will host the annual Athens-Limestone Community Breakfast as a fundraiser for the Arrowhead District of the Boys Scouts, which includes Athens and Limestone County. The event will be at the Beasley Center. Individual seats are $75 and can be purchased at the door. Breakfast will be served. Each year, the Scouts honor someone in the community with a Heart of an Eagle Award, and this year’s recipients will be local veteran groups in the county: ● Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives ● American Legion Post 49 ● Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4765 ● Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 511 ● AMVETS Post 21 ● Ardmore Veterans ● Disabled American Veterans Chapter 51 The guest speaker will be Maj. Gen. Frank D. Turner, who assumed command of the United States Army Security Assistance Command at Redstone Arsenal in September 2011.
