On Tuesday many of you noticed that Andy and I had checked into the University of Minnesota Veterinary Emergency Room with Cooper. Sorry that I left you hanging on what was going on, but we wanted to wait to tell you until all tests were back. The service we received at University of Minnesota was not good. Our Vet from back home was able to find another ophthalmologist in Eden Prairie, MN. and gave us a referral. Coopers eyes looked like they were going to bulge right out of his head. We were very concerned for his vision. Cooper has been diagnosed with Extraocular Muscle Myositis. It is a very RARE disease that is found in large breed animals at a young age (Cooper is 1 yr and 3 mnths old). He will need to be on a high dose of medication for about 3 mnths and then go down to a lower dose for the rest of his life. We will be making several follow-up appointments in the next few weeks to see how his progress is doing. The good news today was that the lab tests today came back negative for a possibility of him breathing in a spore. It has been a very long week. We are fortunate enough to have a great veterinary in Countyvethosp Bloomer and now have a great vet in Eden Prairie.
