On Wednesday, June 12th, there will be a memorial service in honor of Joseph Massenburg, the AmeriCorps NCCC team member who was shot and killed on the evening of April 1st, 2013 in the Carrollton Neighborhood. The memorial service will celebrate Joe’s life and commemorate his dedication to serving the community. The service will be held at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church on 8817 Hickory Street at 7pm. All are welcome to attend. Donations are encouraged. All proceeds will go toward the Joseph Massenburg Memorial Fund and to help pay for memorial service costs and travel expenses for the family. The service is being organized by AmeriCorps Alums NOLA, Council Member Susan Guidry, Green Light New Orleans, and other nonprofit organizations and community members.
