On Wednesday evening at Switch, Pastor Godman brought the curtains down on what has been an incredible and exciting series of teachings here at the Elevation Church on ‘The Spirit-filled life’. Sharing a message which he titled, ‘Staying under the Influence’, he encouraged us to consciously deepen and strengthen our relationship with the Holy Spirit so as to walk in higher realms with God. Beginning from the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch found in Acts 8, we observe the supernatural experiences Philip had with the Holy Spirit which were borne out of a lifestyle of fellowship and obedience. PG explained that God shares secrets with those with whom He is intimately involved, in much the same way as we share secrets with close friends and confidantes whom we trust. One of the remarkable statements which he made was that ‘instructions which you receive from the Holy Spirit are the things that open up your destiny’ and that’s a statement worth memorizing. Similarly, we find in Acts 10, Peter’s supernatural experience with the Holy Spirit as he fasted and prayed. PG encouraged us with some nuggets which will be a blessing to you and which you should keep to heart: 1 Keep your hunger for God’s presence- in the physical realm, our bodies let us know when they need nourishment and it must be the same spiritually; we must not get to the point where skipping prayer and bible study become the norm and we don’t feel any spiritual discomfort. 2 Be flexible in the hand of God- some people are too ‘hard’ for God to use because they are set in their ways but we must be open to flow with the Holy Spirit in every situation. 3 Keep the right atmosphere, within which the Holy Spirit can thrive, around you at all times: create an atmosphere of thanksgiving, praise and worship. 4 The Holy Spirit is not here for your past; He is here for your future- no matter what has happened in the past, today is a new day and He is here to help you launch into destiny!
