On Wednesday night we went to reconciliation. We go to a really big parish, so literally 100s showed up with 6 priests hearing confessions...Not an understatement. We got there at 7:30 and didnt get to the front of the line until after 10:15. Waiting for 3hrs in silence (basically) was a tall order for anyone, much less my 12yo., although sitting there with Jenni for a few hours was nice after a busy Lent:) LOTS to confess after hours of contemplation and prayer (haha!) In the end... much freedom and joy washing over us in saying our sins out loud, asking God for forgiveness and giving our struggles to Jesus. On our way home, we were sharing our experiences of the night. My son, Joe(12) shared that he confessed struggling with wanting to go to Mass. Joe told us, the priest said the coolest thing to me! He told me to remember that Jesus didnt have to die on the cross for me…he WANTED to die on the cross for me…cause he loves me so much and wants me to be with him in heaven forever. He said the more I struggle but keep at it, the more it shows how much I love Him too. Josephs take away was, Wow, I really love Jesus so much!. I have full permission to share this…beautiful…beautiful 12 yo insight. Its been a wonderful Holy Week! Cant wait for Sunday!
