On a recent annual inspection of my airplane, my mechanic examined the crankshaft and remarked that the rust was resolving. I bought the airplane two years ago from a gentlemen who kept the plane in a hangar and rarely if ever flew it. Rust had accumulated on the crankshaft from non use. Since I purchased the airplane, I had been flying her on a pretty regular basis. The very act of flying and moving was actually healing the airplane! Exercise and activity was repairing the crankshaft. A sedentary life style was damaging the engine. Movement, activtity and exercise were giving her new life.
