On a spring morning, 25 September 1922, photographer James D Richardson set himself up atop the Bishops Palace in Ponsonby, and took these shots of the harbour. The image details are: 4-5816 Looking north west from the Bishops Palace, Ponsonby over St Marys Bay towards the north shore showing, Little Shoal Bay, Northcote and Northcote wharf. The ferry Albatross can be seen at Northcote (end on), and the vehicular ferry Sparrowhawk is side on at the pontoon. To the left is the hulk Rewa. 4-5817 Looking north west from the Bishops Palace, Ponsonby over St Marys Bay towards the North Shore with corner of Watchman Island (far left), Shoal Bay, Stanley Point (centre right).
