On another FB page today they were discussing the Ty-Jewel break up and the conversation turned to signing autographs and Shane and JBs names were mentioned as refusing to sign autographs at times, so thought I would give a little insight. Shane posted a couple days ago he had traveled the equivalent of 830 miles a day over 6 days. Long all night drives, short on sleep, not eating the best, and the added travel stress of worrying about making it to the next rodeo on time, competing, loading back up and doing it all over again. It takes mental preparation to get ready to compete yet people will come up right before competition and want autographs. Shane competed with a lot of pain the past year and might have been in the Sports Medicine room getting medical care, so might not have been available for autographs after events. Shane does a lot of PR work for his sponsors and attends a lot of autograph sessions for them where he is available to sign autographs during these designated times. So remember as much as you admire riders, they are human too. I am sure you would balk at having to be available for your job 24-7 and in top form at a moments notice. They need their personal time, family time, and wind down time too.
