On behalf of FWCAT, we would like to thank everyone involved for their help in making the FWCAT Break the Chains 5K a huge success! We raised $18,000, which includes a $5,000 grant from Franciscan Health System and $700.00 from Boeing in their Walk/Match program. This money will help us to continue to educate our students and help us to bring awareness to their parents on the reality of Human Trafficking in and around our community. There were 210 participants and over 50 volunteers…not to mention the Decatur drum line and Todd Beamer Jazz band. Thank you to: all of our sponsors; participants; volunteers; Mayor Jim Ferrell and Rep. Linda Kochmar for speaking; the City of Federal Way, including Councilmembers Susan Honda, Kelly Maloney, Martin Moore, Jeanne Burbidge; Rep. Roger Freeman; Senator Joe Fain; Chief Andy Hwang and the Federal Way Police Department; photographers Sheri Vail, Bruce Honda, Shelley Pauls and Amye Bronson-Doherty; vocalist Darianne Westcott; and Shelley Pauls (again!) and Overcomer Covenant Church for being the largest single group to participate, with over 50 participants! We hope to see the number of participants double for next year as we raise awareness on this issue and we take a stand and say “Not in our City!” THANK YOU!
