On behalf of Growing Women Ministries, a nonprofit 501c3, we would like to invite you to a real beauty event coming to Traverse City, Mi. This fashion event is scheduled for, Saturday, November 2, 2013 and is called “Modesty Rocks.” Shari Braendel, a professional fashion consultant, author, and national speaker from North Carolina will be sharing her savvy fashion tips and expertise in a fun “What Not To Wear Show” by including her audience. During part of her show she will teach the Five B’s of modesty. These five tips help women think about their body type and what they wear, as well as, help them find balance in beauty and modesty by avoiding sloppy immodest dressing. The purpose of this fashion event, real beauty workshop and makeover celebration is to reach out to women, of various ages (primary focus on teen girls and young women, as well as their support network—mothers, mentors, teachers, grandmothers, etc.) in our schools, communities, and churches regarding what “real beauty” entails, and that in relationship to our self-worth. We want women to know they are beauties no matter what society says or promotes. Women and teens who attend will have the opportunity to see hands-on approaches to being a woman of worth in our world today (addressing how to dress your body type, free color analysis, current fashion trends, modesty, how to shop, vendors with resources, and what guys really think.) One woman in attendance will win a shopping spree with Shari Braendel as her professional fashion consultant! Our long-term goal is that through this educational, entertaining, faith based event, women of all ages will discover what “real beauty” is and have a fashionable foundation from which to build on. In addition, there will be breakout sessions for: women only, singles, teens and girls starting at 8 years and up on beauty, faith, love, make-up and character. Our previous event of this kind was held in Traverse City in January of 2009 and was called “Modest is Hottest.” This same event sold out in one week to over 700 women! We ended up doing two events in one day to accommodate our numbers. This year we are doing one event with a cut off of 600 divas.
