On marriage and the rest: Countless remarks are passed on girls of marriageable age in Mauritius that they are not trying hard enough; not being feminine, soft, agreeable, submissive, thin or whatever. This defies all backgrounds. Plus, you are given the examples of all those in your family who are married and leading so-called stable lives. However, does that mean that you, as a full-fledged independent woman, should get married to any pied banane? Is marriage a means to an end? Is that what a fulfilled life really means? Where is the logic in that? Who will be happy with a pied banane?
