On my 20 minute train ride to work this morning I saw a young Arabic boy drawing a mural on his sisters arm saying Keep Calm. Free Palestine, a few stops later I saw a hassidic Jewish elderly couple pinning Free Palestine badges to each others shirts and along the whole route I saw not 1, not 2 but 3 separate people reading Ilan Pappes The Ethnic cleansing of Palestine. People everywhere all over the world both new and old to the issue, are taking a stand against Zionism and for Palestinian Justice and peace in the Middle East. Particularly here in Germany, this is so heart-warming. So sunglasses back on. Hopefully no-one will see me crying like I, and so many, have been all week. But this time, Im sure theyre not just tears of sadness. Change will come. It has to. As the great Arundhati Roy says, Fortunately power has a shelf life. When the time comes, maybe this mighty empire will, like others before it, overreach itself and implode from within. It looks as though structural cracks have already appeared.
