On my way home from a test yesterday, I could tell the Spring Equinox was near since Centro was looking more like a European province than anything else. In an effort by the department of economic growth in Merida, they staged the famous Mayan ball game along with some ancient amayan rituals. What caught my attention was the invocation of Hunab Ku, and the structure of the rituals were in the same 4 directions format as in the contemporary western traditions. It reminded me of the strong presencne of Catholic beliefs in the mayan museums given then it seems that since the christianization of the mayan religion, some roots may have been forever severed regardless of what the announcers claimed when they introduced themselves and their mayan lineages.
