On my way to work this morning, I was driving down the four lane part of 25, between delphi and lafayette. A motorcycle pulls off of a country road onto the highway. He passes multiple cars and gets right next to me. Well, about even with my back door. He procedes to stay there for 7 miles. Right in the blind spot. 7 MILES!!! As we get close to the round-a-bout, I put on my signal, and pretend to change lanes. He gets pissed and moves up next to me, flipping me off. You bike riders can see what the issue is by now. I let this kid get in front of me, he turns into a construction business just past the round-a-bout. I follow. He parks and yells at two guys getting into dump trucks. I get out, they come over. The kid puffs up and yells at me and says “is there a problem!!” I said “Yes, youre and idiot, you give bikers a bad name, and youre going to kill yourself on that bike.” At this point, the two guys from the dump trucks are leaning on my car listening. Not being confrontational. Thank God!! Big boys. I tell this kid, “I have been riding 30 years, so shut up and listen”. He gets a bit mad, one of the two dump truck boys tell him to shut up and listen. I tell this kid “riding in a blind spot is going to get you killed”. He says his pipes are loud and I should have heard him. I said “the sound goes behind you, you dumb ass. A biker needs to ride offensively, and defensively at the same time. You put yourself in a position to be a statistic. You can get mad if you want, but I don’t like seeing fellow bikers get killed.” He then just kinda looks at the bike and then at the ground. Puts his hand out and and says Thanks! As I shake his hand, I said “remember dude, there are old bikers, and there are dumb bikers, there are no Old dumb bikers” The two big guys start giving him a hard time about being a dick. Haha…. We talk about his bike for a while, and then I leave. I hope I just saved one biker from doom…….
