On one of my readings on Ambeth R. Ocampo I was able have this essay on guides for lovers. The essay was titled, The Prewar Lovers Guide dated Feb. 9, 1986. It so happened that today is the beginning of the love month and so ill share some points on how old Filipino lovers use to celebrate love which I suppose is no longer manifested in our love moves today. ON WRITING LOVE LETTERS: Communication is one of the main ways of courting. Before cellular phones and social networks came the corny and florid sounded love letters which is very effective. Lovers use to write letters to one another is many different forms so that no one can caught them in their love affairs. The essay suggested the use of invisible ink in the following manner: 1. Use sap, milk or beer in writing your letter, then read it by having a ground charcoal pass through it. 2. Use water or tawas (piedra alumbre), then read it by wetting or exposing it to sunlight or strong light. 3. Use dayap, sukang Iloko, or onion juice, then read it by passing over the fire. 4. Use codes that only the two of you can understand, commonly used codes are letters and numbers arranged in different manner, some others use the more complicated one like names of flowers or plants (to be mistaken as notes for Botany class). celebrating the gift of LOVE :)
