On the 14th of October 2012, Felix Baumgartner jumped from a capsule suspended from a balloon from the height of 38,696.3 metres (127,852 feet) and fell a record distance of 36,402.6 metres in 04:19s before opening his parachute. Other records set as part of that jump were: Highest manned balloon flight, fastest speed of a free fall of 1,357.64km/h (843.6mph) making him the first human to break the sound barrier outside of a vehicle. Although in October 2014, Alan Eustace (Senior Vice President of Knowledge at Google) set a new height record of 41,419 metres.
