On the 15th instant, we also had the proud privilege of having the presence of these two very illustrious officers,among others, in our midst. They are now Octogenarians and it was such a treat to be able to see these people on the stage. A brief write up about the two is placed here:- Air Marshal JK Seth Commissioned in 1953, Air Mshl Seth served in a number of Transport Squadrons and flew a total of over 8000 hrs with vast experience of flying in J&K. A Qualified Flying Instructor, Air Mshl Seth commanded Aircrew Examination Board;one biggest Transport Base of IAF - AF Stn Agra. He was also the Commandant of the IAF’s most prestigious Flying Training Establishment, the Air Force Academy. He held two foreign assignments, Flying Instructor at the Flying Academy in Egypt and Air Advisor, Indian High Commission in UK, London. The Air Officer rose to become the AOC-in-C of Training Command from where he retired in 1991 after rendering a glorious service of 38 years. A recipient of PVSM, AVSM and VM (Gallantry), After retirement, the Air Officer worked on important assignments with the Ministry of Home and Civil Aviation. AVM M Banerji,MVC Commissioned in 1955, AVM Banerji flew a number of fighter aircraft including Vampire, Toofani, Mystere, Gnat and SU-7. An A-1 QFI, AVM Banerji has the distinction of commanding two Flying Sqns, Flying Instructor School, a fighter base and AOC J&K. Had been the Commodore Commandant of a Gnat Sqn. Has held important staff appointments, both at Command and Air HQs. An alumni of the National Defense college, AVM Banerji is a recipient of Maha Vir Chakra and Vayu Sena Medal.
