On the Forum, there was a post from Ted HVideo on . . . .we should look back at the last project in HVL, the Admin. Bldg. As a sitting Board Member at the time and Secretary, his comments are clearly something he heard second or third hand and did not check the facts before posting. We NEVER had any bids for $900K and the new GM at the time was FOR the project. The vote to go ahead with the project was 4/3. I do not recall why two of my fellow board members voted not to proceed, but I voted no because I did not have confidence in the construction company and size of the facility. Continuing to malign past management practices by staff and the Board is quarterbacking. Continuing to state how something was based on what you want others to believe is instilling unnecessary fear and borders on irresponsible behavior. The Board members these last many years have tried to use any and all tools available to research this whole new facility projects so no stone is unturned. You choose to not want to believe any of this. Once the decision was made on the Admin. Bldg. it was my duty then to support the decision of the Board. We did have issues with the contractor but we stood together as a Board and made the project happen and it was finished. Much was learned from this and in many ways is why so much research and work has been made toward the new facilities projects (Hartmann and Community Center).
