On the #Hydrebad pattern the #Modi Govt. must also rename the #Palam & #Gurgaon #airports suitably.Both are named after #Indira #Gandhi. The #International Airport at Gurgaon and domestic one at Palam are four kilometers apart. They cause avoidable confusion. The #Congress objection to the #TDP airlines minister #Anand #Gajapati #Raju’s decision is absurd. Just compare N.T. Rama Rao with mother and son duo (Indira and Rajiv Gandhi). Till 1983 the Congress (I) used to win 41 of the 42 #Lok #Sabha seats and massive majority in the #Andhra #Pradesh #Assembly. Then (1982) landed #IndianAirlines trainee pilot #Rajiv #Gandhi who insulted A.P. Congress #ChiefMinister T. Anjaiah at Hydrebad airport. Filmstar N.T. Rama Rao made Telugu “#Gauravam” (pride) an electoral plank and captured (3/4th) three fourth assembly seats for his (9) nine-month-old #TeluguDesamParty. Even Indira Gandhi’s whirlwind campaign failed. Then came (a year after in 1984) the eighth Lok Sabha poll and Rajiv Congress swept the nation winning 415 out of the 543 seats. Only in Andhra Pradesh the assassination of Indira Gandhi showed no impact on the voters, giving Congress just 6 out of 42 seats. It was N.T.R. all the way. So who was more mass-based leader in Andhra Pradesh ? The Congress should thank the #NDA for retaining the newly built huge International airport at Shamsabad after Rajive Gandhi, and continuing with N.T.R.’s name from Begumpet domestic airport. It is stupid to name both after one man just as in Delhi (Palam and Gurgaon), after a single woman. The Modi Govt., now, must frame a definite policy of naming public places after eminent persons. One can discern the lurking love of ex-NDA P.M. Atal Bihari Vajpaiyee for the Nehru dynasty (calling Indira Goddess Durga), but #Narendra Damodardas #Modi, a tea vendor from Vadanagar village, should not have such vacillation, a known mark of big bourgeoisie leadership. A last word. If Narendra Modi is a patriotic defender of the Vedic faith, he should restore #Ahemedabad’s name as “Karnavati” and #Lucknow’s name as “Lakshmanpuri” after its founder. Close on the heels comes Mughal Akhbar’s #Allahabad. Call it the “Sangam Nagar” which the Muslim champions of the Ganga- Jamuni tehzeeb will accept willingly.
