On the Road (not Kerouac) The tears of our Nation are drying - TopicsExpress

On the Road (not Kerouac) The tears of our Nation are drying reservoirs Once prosperous and full of joy Today empty. Now no one knows When the blessing rains will fall again As oil drug lords weep false into gold lined handkerchiefs And pump-inject Brand name gas Franchise Fast food Lodging Into our concrete veins and we travel with hardened heart and arteries. I recognize the signs of Our eventual decay to corporate familiarity And the trails in the sky (no, not clouds) are telling me its not getting any better. And yet, I too am lulled, comforted Inn their fluorescent courtyards with promises of rest and the quenching of desire Into the ultimate fulfillment of Belly Tank and sleep. So we sleep, and we travel and we search Only to find empty fulfillment in the beckoning of the signs (so bright!) At the conglomerate capitalist oases of Our Inevitable Downfall. Lilithe Magdalene
