On the Saturday before Memorial Day, the names of the 6,790 U.S. military personnel who died in vain and for a lie in Iraq and Afghanistan were read on a grassy knoll overlooking the black granite panels of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. The wrong names were read. What should have been read was the names of all the congressmen who continually voted to fund these senseless and unjust wars. What should have been read was the names of all the defense contractors who benefited from these wars. What should have been read was the names of the two presidents who served as commander in chief during these evil wars. What should have been read was the names of the conservative warmongers who demonized opponents of the wars as unpatriotic, says Laurence Vance.
