On the eve of my first Ironman, i want to thank Marisa Muniz Lastres, Cristina Marisa and Nicole Maria for putting up with my craziness and supporting this 50 year old in my crazy endeavor. I wouldnt be here today without my many coaches RJ Fleming, Earl Walton, Jay, JP, Mike (AG) Stephen Harrison, Michael Cheng and Elizabeth Hutton. Also my TNT Ironman teammates, QueensboroTri and TNT Queens marathon team. I also want to thank all my family, friends and colleagues for your generous donations supporting TNT and all the moral support and words of encouragement. I am truly blessed to have you in my life. Three years ago, i could barely run a few miles, today i have completed 4 marathons and countless halves. June of last year i completed my first triathlon, a half Ironman in Mont Tremblant and held on to each buoy for dear life. This year i completed two other half Ironmans, my fist Hudson River swim with NYCSwim and the NYC Tri, my first Olympic distance a few weeks ago. Along the way, my family and i have raised over $20,000 for LLS. I am proof that anything is possible if you set your mind to it and you just stick with it. This race is dedicated to my peeps who died of leukemia and will be looking down on me tomorrow. My Tio Carlos who we lost on september 9th, my father, Fernando and my sister-in-law Debbie who was 41 years old and way too young to die. For my fellow Ironman peeps may you have a great day tomorrow. We are all winners even before we get to the starting line. Un abrazo, Steve
