On the eve of the 50th Anniversary of the JFK Assination just 70 miles North of Dallas, I cant help but think about a paper I wrote in 11th Grade. My history teacher, Mr. Calldwell asked to write on our trust of the Warren Commissions Conclusions in the matter of JFKs death. I did not and felt that evidence of LBJ and his hatred of Bobby Kennedy, as well as many other factors pointing to the ease of the connection. But what did I know, I was just a 16 yr old who just watched Oliver Stones movie on JFK. I think it was that that prompted the discussion. Now after looking at my news feed on facebook, it looks like I wasnt the only one. Which brings me to my point. The amount of effort to cover up a dishonest government is baffling. Wouldnt it be easier if the Govt just got out of the business of healthcare and education allowing the actual experts in the independent and volunteer sectors handle the reforming (which, btw, govt duplicates the same things they do only at an exponentially higher cost with way worse accounting, efficiency, and effectiveness)? Wouldnt it be easier if the government stopped meddling in foreign affairs especially when they cant fix the affairs at home or more important honor the obligation of taking care of the widow or widower they made by sending their loved ones to die in unjust wars or taking care of the wounded veterans who absolutely deserve the best care in world for what they needlessly sacrificed for D.C.s vanity, greed, and dishonesty. Yet the pentagon nickle and dimes the warfighter, cutting pensions, benefits, and rights to compensation so that they may reallocate what was promised them for more drones to kill innocent people, more smart bombs that miss their targets causing massive collateral damage, and fighter jets that have been 20 years in production and yet enter a theater of battle. Better yet, why dont they demand a discount out of companies like Boeing whos reinserting into the bill of sale, their cost of lobbying to get the tanker contract in the first place? Do they seriously consider these things when making decisions? How about we not tax the production of our citizenry and instead, consider taxing its consumption, or better yet, not tax the people at all. Maybe focus on generating money from the foreign suppliers of goods who flood our country with inferior; dangerous products, made with the equivalent of slave labor, all the while easily stealing our intellectual capital. Will they consider replacing subsidies for competitive grants instead? How about encouraging American Manufacturing to keep their goods and jobs here where they will be proudly employ Americans? Why favor cronies at Monsato, ADM, Tesla, GM. Why keep printing money for mega banks to just lend it to AT&T and Verizon, who have enough cash on hand to cut prices for the consumer, give bonuses to the workers on the frontlines, and return a dividend on investment; yet they keep borrowing money to operate because it keeps getting printed through quantitative easing, all the while hoarding their cash. Meanwhile small businesss cant even get a $10,000 loan. End of tonights rant, but just so you know its just the tip of the ice-burg. Well one final thing. JFK was not the only famous person to die on Nov. 22nd, 1963. His death definitely overshadowed the passing of C.S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley. Huxley is best remembered as the author of Brave New World, a book about a bleak future of distopia with a heavy handed govt. I conclude with this quote from Huxley congratulating George Orwell on the publishing of 1984: Within the next generation I believe that the worlds leaders will discover that infant conditioning and narco-hypnosis are more efficient, as instruments of government, than clubs and prisons, and that the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience. Apropos, no?
