On the eve of the day that veterans are honored we find a Veterans - TopicsExpress

On the eve of the day that veterans are honored we find a Veterans Administration that is desperately trying to heal itself. Once more we are again poised to send young women and men to the place we now call harms way. We are living in a nation that has more homeless veterans than any caring nation should admit to. We pay our soldiers so poorly that many of them and their families qualify for public assistance. We have elected leaders who among their ranks it is the rare exception to find one of them that has served in the armed services or who have a child that is currently or ever done the same. We continue to send people from the lower socio-economic strata of our society to do the work that no one else wants to do and when they come home many times it is to a substandard job that pays subsistence wages while we argue over the minimum wage; or our vets come home to no job at all. On this veterans day I want to post the pictures of my dad Earl Stock, somewhere in the South Pacific (rigged up and ready for a jump with his unit, he is front row on the far left), my grandfather in his WW I picture and my dads brother, my uncle Robert who died Easter Sunday 1945 in The Typhoon of Steel with 1st Marines at Okinawa. Thanks to all vets and lets put pressure on our elected officials to do much better for them all in every way possible.
