On the issue of Buhari not having a school leaving certificate: It - TopicsExpress

On the issue of Buhari not having a school leaving certificate: It is the general consensus that he attended primary and secondary schools. The constitution provides you have to acquire a minimum of a secondary school certificate. It does not provide that you must have credited all the subjects you sat for or a particular grade. Being that the case,if we agreed and there is evidence that he attended secondary school, then the certificate wherever it is or not makes no difference. It would have been a different matter if he were a drop out for one reason or the other. The other issue is that of military training and leadership. While military officers are not cut out for democratic leadership we must not carry this argument too far as a person who read Zoology to any length does not possess any advantage.Political Science students are not the best leaders/rulers or practitioners of democracy either. There are qualities innate and or acquired by a true leader be he a former General or former lecturer. He must exhibit firmness and fearlessness in taking decisions. The seven human virtues are also very important. The leader must exhibit a zero tolerance to corruption and self-discipline. You do not acquire integrity, honesty, truthfulness, and boldness only in the barracks. The situation in Nigeria requires an urgent surgical operation.I foresee an arms race in the Niger-Delta for instance as the excesses of the Ijaws or some Ijaws would drive the peace loving Urhobos to arm themselves. The Agbasa Urhobos have been at loggerheads with their neighbouring Itsekiris for ages. Some Urhobos in the riverine areas have had battles with the ubiquitous Ijaws at one time or the other. But I am referring to Urhobos in the mainland who have no borders with other tribes. The so-much-talked-about marginalisation of the Urhobos and the activities of Tompolo and his acolytes would force the energised and galvanised newly crowned Urhobo Ighele to prepare for any eventualities. What is good for the geese is also good for the gander! I would advise that we continue to live in peace and harmony with our neighbours.Lets not be forced to turn instruments of violence and destruction on ourselves because of the parochial and selfish interests of some insatiable goons! The digression is necessitated by the docile and unpresidential manner GEJ had handled issues in his own enclave - Niger-Delta. A Buhari would not hesitate to stamp the authority of the Federal government when such issues like siting the EPZ in a particular community presents itself.A Buhari would not succumb to the threat from one million Tompolos. But you cannot give what you do not have. GEJ is simply being used by a cabal. He is simply too weak.Mind you,he is not the brightest and the best of the sons of the Niger Delta. Why this clamouring for a non-performer to continue in the saddle? I am miffed that some would let him pilot the plane of State until he crashes same - we must avoid that crash by voting him out on Valentines Day 2015! What a befitting day! The post becomes important as I have been bombarded with posts on the issue of certificate - so much for certificates! What does a certificate do? It certifies, confirms, etc a state of affairs.Whether Buhari attended or not a secondary school. The issue of the Catholic priest is still very fresh. As the Catholic Church is part of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)I am waiting for the president of I CAN, his Omnipresence and Pre-eminence Ayo Oritsejafor to respond being a very good friend of the berated President. Hmmm! The handwriting is on the wall for GEJ to vacate Aso Rock.I commiserate with him however on the death of his younger sister. You must recall that he lost his younger brother also as Mr. President to the cold hands of death in Aso Rock.Losing your younger siblings as President of a country confirms the fact that we are mere mortals and not immortal like God Almighty. Let us be humble!
