On the morning of January 7th, at least three men armed with assault rifles stormed the Paris office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and killed 12 people including two police officers. Based on witness observations, its believed that the office had been targeted by Islamist militants. The office had been firebombed in 2011, one day after it had published a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad. On the evening of the attack, vigils sprang up in cities in and outside of France. Photographer Jerome Sessini was among thousands who gathered in Paris Place de la Republique to pay respect to the slain. magnumphotos/C.aspx?VP3=CMS3&VF=MAGO31_4&VBID=2K1HZOQ8FP3TIR&IID=24PV7C0011S&PN=1
