On the one hand this is a touching endorsement of charity, on the other hand it demonstrates that were more likely to give away that which we didnt work hard to earn in the first place. Its why governments and trust fund babies are profligate while self-made millionaires are penny-pinchers. Id personally rather see poor people given the opportunity to work, with no regulations or minimum wages imposed, just a voluntary arrangement of doing something productive for some consideration in return, than to just be given money or food or anything else. The recipient will appreciate a job more than a free meal, even if its just sweeping a sidewalk or doing some dishes for an afternoon.
