On the way to Amarnth we passed through Sonamargh a hill station - TopicsExpress

On the way to Amarnth we passed through Sonamargh a hill station from where we can see glaciers which was wonderful. We started our journey by helicopter from baltal to panchatarangi ( about 6 to 7 minutes) and reached 7.15 AM. From panchatarangini it was 6 kms trek uphill 3 kms and down hills three kms. Up hill was very steep and reached the shrine base at about 12 noon. It took almost 5 and half hours. Very tiring and also enjoying. In the shrine also there was a climb of nearly 250 steps which were very steep. Visited the holy cave but to our fortune the GOD shivji had melted and Godess parvathi was there for the darshan. It is told that the visiting the holy cave itself is punya. Returning journey was 17 kms trek. The route was narrow and scenery was fantastic. Without regular walk it took seven hours from 2.pm to 9 pm. to reach Baltal. Here sunsets at about 8 pm. Hence it was very nice to walk in the night also. Any how with all the pains in the body we reached Baltal camp and slept tiring. Morning we started our return journey back to Srinagar and had a shikari boat ride in dal lake in the evening. AT least once in a life time one has to visit the Kashmir valley which would be unforgettable .
